Asilomar Art Roundtable 2009

The Art Round Table is held at Asilomar for one week - this year it is June 24 through June 30th.  For a number of years (no one can remember how long, but apparently it has been since the 60's) 36 artists from around the world meet to paint.  When I inquired 'how long?' following is the answer I received "Every time the question is raised among those who've attended longest, the response is likely to be "what group?"
There are no workshops.  Each artist does 'their own work.'  It is rather an invitational situation in that, as in my case, I was on the waiting list for five years (currently, there are 16 artists on the waiting list).  It is a grand time. . . all we do is paint.  Our three meals a day are provided, our rooms are taken care of, we have a private studio, sitting room.  Everything is by the artist's choice.  In the evenings, after the evening meal, there is a critique of all work produced that day.  The last evening of the Art Round Table, there is a reception for any who wish to attend from the community - anywhere for that matter.  This year the grand affair will be held on June 29th.  This will be my second year attending and I cannot tell  you how excited I am to be able to go again.
Below are pictures taken during the 2008 gathering.  At Asilomar there are various 'housings'  The Art Round Table has the Scripps building again this year.
